Contemporary visual artist, working from her seaside studio in Bunurong country - Rye, Australia.
The daughter of two German artists, Saskia left behind her fashion design career to make a sea-change and pursue her artistic calling in 2018. Saskia was a finalist in the 2024 Mornington Peninsula Contemporary Art Prize and participates regularly in exhibitions at Melbourne galleries. Saskia’s work is mostly abstract, characterised by a building of layers and textures that create depth. Emotive gestural brush-strokes and intuitive mark-making form a sense of movement, bringing life to her works. Oil paint is her primary medium of choice, yet she also enjoys working with polymer, charcoal and pastels. Saskia’s artworks have sold throughout Australia and several internationally via online platforms and shows.
“My work tends to explore the relationship and interconnectedness between our inner and outer nature. It is generally very emotive and intuitive. I have a never ending curiosity with what lies just beyond the periphery, the liminal edge between the tangible and the imperceptible.” Saskia Düsselberg
